ENERGY SAVING SWITCH
RELAY INFRARED MOTION SENSOR OCCUPANCY WALL

This new energy saving Passive Infrared wall switch utilizes an integrated circuit manufactured with the latest surface mount technology, has excellent detection sensitivity and a rapid response time. Its design incorporates automatism, convenience, safety, energy-saving and practical functions. The wide detection range senses an up, down, left and right field of motion. It works by seeing human body heat in motion via infrared rays. It is designed to replace an existing wall switch for interior lighting. It can start the controlled output load (light) immediately when a person crosses the detection field and it will not switch on unless the room is dark or dimly lit. The unit incorporates a simple three wire installation, a status indicator LED light and built-in photocell.

  Suggested Installation height: 1 meter to 1.6 meters ( 3’3” to 5’3”)
Detection motion speed: 0.6 to 1.5 meters per second

THIS IS NOT A SINGLE POLE SWITCH. IT NEEDS HOT AND NEUTRAL WIRES WELL IDENTIFIED IN ORDER TO WORK. Please see the installation diagram below.

FUNCTION:

    • Detection field: The sensor scans up, down, forward, left and right (see the following diagram). There is a relationship between the sensitivity and the orientation of motion. Detection sensitivity is ideal when motion is perpendicular to the sensor.
    • The sensor will identify high ambient light conditions and keep the light from switching on. The actual light level threshold is pre-adjusted at 10 LUX.
    • Power and detection indication: The LED will continue to flash regardless of the switch position. It will flash fast when it senses movement and it will flash slowly at the end of the timing cycle.
    • Cumulative time-delay: When the sensor detects movement for the second time it resets the timer and the countdown starts again from the beginning. This action repeats until movement is no longer detected and subsequent to the end of the time delay the switch output shuts down.
    • Time-delay adjustment: It can be set according to the consumer preference. The minimum time is 8 seconds and the maximum is 7 minutes.
    • The switch has 3 operating modes: AUTO, OFF and ON.

Installation (see the following diagram)

   - FIRST MAKE SURE YOUR MASTER CIRCUIT BREAKER POWER IS SHUT OFF.
   - An Electrician should install the sensor.
   - Adhere to your State and Local Electrical Codes
   - The switch is wired across the normal Hot (Usually black –USA) and Neutral or common wire (Usually white –USA)
   - The sensor switch Black wire gets connected to the house Hot wire (Usually black –USA)
   - The sensor switch Green gets connected to the house Neutral wire (Usually white –USA)
   - The output light is connected to the common also and the sensor output (Red)

CONNECTION-WIRE DIAGRAM (see the right Fig)

INITIAL TESTING:

Before installing the outer switch plate (the unit ships with the outer switch plate attached, you must remove it), lift off the time-delay adjustment access panel. To do this, place a small flat screwdriver in the small notch directly below the detection window and gently pry the removable panel down and out. Behind this panel you will see the time-delay adjustment dial. Turn the time-delay dial counterclockwise to the minimum. (It may be at the minimum already). After first applying power, the controlled load (light bulb) won’t work and the indicator lamp flashes slowly (one time every 4 seconds). The load should work within 10 seconds and the indication lamp will start to flash fast (2 times every 1 second). Move out of range and allow the light to go off. (This should happen within about 5 to 30 seconds). At this point the LED indicator will start to flash slowly again. Move into the detection area and the lights should work and the indicator LED should start to flash rapidly again.

NOTES:

    • There should be no objects blocking the detection window
    • Avoid installing it near an area where high temperature fluctuations occur, for example: air condition, central heating etc.
    • For your safety do not open the sensor. There are no user serviceable parts inside.
    • Motion sensitivity increases closer to the sensor.

TROUBLE SHOOTING:

In the case where the light connected to the sensor won’t switch on:
   1. If the LED flashes fast after detecting movement, please check if the switch is on the "auto" position.
   2. If the LED light is flashing check the load (light) or the switch connections, if the LED light is not flashing at all please check the power, the main fuse or circuit breaker.
   3. Please check if the room lighting is low level and within the 10 LUX threshold.

In the case that the sensitivity is poor:
   1. Please check if the front of the detection window is somehow blocked.
   2. Please check the ambient temperature.
   3. Please check if the movement source is within range of the sensor.
   4. Please check the installation height.
   5. Please check if the direction of movement is perpendicular to the sensor switch.

In the case where the output load will not shut off:
   1. Please check if there is anything emitting heat and also moving air in the detection field.
   2. Pleased check the time delay relative to the last detected motion within range.
   3. Please ensure that the power is within the operating range.
   4. Mirrors can reflect motion in the sensor view, check to see if the sensor is facing a mirror and if the mirror is facing some moving warm object.
